Message from Patrul Rinpoche

Written by Patrul Rinpoche, 28 October 2012 – Letter About the Winter Retreat 2012 (excerpt)

If you ask me what I am currently concerned about, I would say that I am deeply concerned about the teachings of the Buddha. The Buddha’s teachings are very, very important for everybody. They are useful not only for us, but beneficial and very important for all sentient beings. Therefore, I would like to sincerely request from the depth of my heart: please, all of you, continue to study, analyse, listen again and again, contemplate, meditate and practise the Buddha’s teachings.

By relying on the Buddha’s teachings, we can get different experiences, worldly and spiritual experiences. With these experiences we will have a perfect base for our daily activity. On that basis, we can easily handle our lives, handle our families, and create peace, love, solidarity, harmony. If we wish to do all this for the benefit of others, we need to have good experiences, and to gain these experiences, we must study the Buddha’s teachings. The Buddha’s teachings are the best teachings in the world, as they are related to compassion. If someone has compassion, impartial compassion, great compassion, whatever they say will be the truth. Then we can follow this truthful speech, attain the truthful level and get truthful results. Therefore, I am asking all of you, members of my heart family: please don’t stop to study the Dharma, continue to practise, study and meditate the Dharma.
